How Much Will Electronics Be a Part of Your Life?
by: Michelle Laurie
When building a media room, many people think it’s all about the equipment. But stop for a moment. If you’re surrounding yourself with electronic devices, like speakers and televisions throughout the house, where do you go to get away from that? We encourage clients to think about creating a home that’s peaceful, that they feel they can control and that makes sense to them. If you have a TV room that’s in the center of the house when your kids are toddlers so you can keep an eye on them, how are you going to feel when you’ve got five teenagers sitting there blaring music loudly? It’s important to think about these things ahead of time and try to avoid conflicts.
Recently we created a ‘Tech Room’ consulting with media experts at Soundvision for a family with three children. Each child’s bedroom leads into a shared space that was created as a hub for the children to congregate, play, watch television or listen to music. The result? A fun space for kids, giving the parents a chance to be away from the action while still keeping an eye on things. You can see another project that we did recently with Soundvision here.
