Waterfront Home Belvedere
This Bay Area style shingle home is sited on a priceless piece
of property, one of the choicest on Belvedere Island. It commands
panoramic views from San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge
to Sausalito and Mt. Tam. The highest priority on the program
for creating this residence was to find a concept as breathtaking
as the views while harmonizing with the natural beauty of the
site. Traditional cedar shingles were used for a crafted look.
Windows span the length of the Bay-side, affording uninterrupted
views of the ever-changing land and water-scape. Just outside
the lower-level master suite, an intimate terrace was created
as a special setting for the spa.
One of the most stunning features of the property is the new
pool. The pool's disappearing edge creates a visual axis to
the panoramic view and suggests that the water from the pool
cascades into the Bay below. Brick terraces on three sides of
the pool act as galleries between the buildings. A series of
terraced gardens and a repeat of the trellis detail at the entry
