After years of heavy use and fixtures that were stuck in the 80s, this kitchen went from the well worn to the dream kitchen these homeowners always wanted.
The homeowners now boast a kitchen that is the hub of their lovely Edwardian townhome. Mahoney Architects & Interiors made sure that the modern amenities and new cabinetry design tied into the home’s overall style and took advantage of the lovely high ceilings. Keeping the same footprint and reusing a couple high-end appliances minimized the overall timeline and kept the budget on track. Functional details like a spice rack tucked behind the refrigerator and cabinetry that extends to the ceiling takes advantage of unused space. Recessed lighting throughout the kitchen and pendants for task lighting keeps all work areas light and bright. Lastly, the speckled black and white granite countertops add interest and will hold up to whatever they can dish out for years to come.
The kitchen is now more then merely functional space it once was. It’s become a welcoming nest from which to nourish, recharge, and relax. In short, it feels like home.
